And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh in the land of Egypt, and unharden his heart, so that I need not show my signs before him.
And Moses went forth to the land of Egypt, and came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him: LET MY PROCESS GO!
Go where?, replied Pharaoh
Let my process go-live answered Moses.
Sure, said Pharaoh, not a problem. We just need some tweaks to make our end-users happy.
As Moses did not want to invoke the wrath of Pharaoh, he went back and implemented some changes to the business process.
And Moses went forth to the land of Egypt, and came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him: LET MY PROCESS GO!
Sure, said Pharaoh, not a problem. We just need some additional small changes. It’s a must-have. We cannot go live without them. I’m sure you understand.
And Moses did not want to invoke the wrath of Pharaoh, thus he went back and implemented some additional changes to the process.
And Moses went forth to the land of Egypt, and came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him: LET MY PROCESS GO!
Sure, said Pharaoh, we were just about ready to go-live when we realised that we’ve missed a couple of fields that need to be on the first form.
And Moses would not take this anymore and said unto Pharaoh, “I will need to escalate this issue”
And Moses went to the VP’s office and said unto him “I cannot unharden his heart”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over thy laptop and write a strong email explaining the need to Go-Live.
And Moses wrote a strong email, but Pharaoh’s heart stayed unhardened, so that he would not let the process go-live.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt and stop all communication with the customer, that they may come up and chase us instead.
And it came to pass at the end of a few weeks, that the customer realised that he was not getting any responses and brought in Moses and said unto him: Let’s set up a meeting with thy lord.
And Pharaoh’s heart had unhardended, and he agreed to let the process go-live.
And there was great happiness in the camp, and rejoicement all around.
And Moses and his developers left the land of Egypt to work on a new project.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the developers go, he realised that he needed more changes, and chased Moses to the red sea.
And the LORD said unto Moses “Lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the developers shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”
And Moses said unto the LORD: Where are you sending us, as all we see is desert and barren land.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? The next project is an integration project, but there is no spec yet, so you will have to do a bit of guess work, you will probably wander through the desert for 40 years and never get to see the promised land, it’s one of those kind of projects, you know. Speak unto thy children, that they go forward.
And Moses gathered his camp of developers and said unto them: Guys, were going back to Egypt, trust me on this one, I’d rather deal with a Pharaoh that knows what he wants than a Mister Nice Guy that doesn’t.
